Two-step Log In
This security feature adds an extra security step when you log in to the app. Once setup you will be required to enter your password as normal along with a code that is sent to your mobile via text message or generated by an app on your device.
Setting Up
Upon logging into your account for the first time, you will be given the option to setup two-step log in process.
If you dismissed this message, but later wish to enable this feature you can enable it from the 'General' tab within your account settings. For details of how to access your account settings see Changing My Account Settings.

If you already have two-step authentication set up you will see the following:

Setup - Choose Method
You can choose from 3 options:
- Use An Authenticator App - Uses a third-party app on your mobile device - See Authenticator App for more details.
- Send Access Codes To My Mobile - Sends access codes to your mobile by text message - See Text Message Method for more details.
- Do Not Use Two-step Authentication - Turns off two-step authentication.- See Turning Off for more details.
Once you have chosen a method click/tap 'Continue'.
Authenticator App
This method requires the installation of a One-time Password (OTP) generator application on your mobile or tablet device. You will need a modern smart phone or tablet to use this method.
If you do not have a suitable device you should use the Text Message Method.
We recommend using Google Authenticator and this section will assume you are using this app. You can also use Authy and other OTP Authenticators.

Setup - Authenticator App
Install & Configure Google Authenticator
Google Authenticator can be used with Android and Apple iPhone/iPad/iPod Touch devices. Search "Google Authenticator" in your app store and install.
When you first launch Google Authenticator you will be presented with an empty screen:

Tapping the red '+' button will allow you to add a new login to the app:

We recommend you choose the 'Scan a barcode' option and use the camera interface in the next screen to scan the QR code (large square barcode) in the Two-step setup popup.
This will add your account with Driving School Office to Google Authenticator:

You will then see a 6 digit code next to your account in Google Authenticator.
You should then enter this code shown in the 'Verify Using Code from App' box in the Two-step setup popup before clicking/tapping 'Verify & Continue' to proceed.
This code changes periodically; if you are not quite quick enough when entering the code you may experience a validation failure. You should enter the newly generated code and try again.
Confirm
The last step will ask you to confirm that you wish to enable two-step authentication. Click/tap the 'Enable Two-step' button to complete the set up.
If you lose your device you will need to contact support and ask for two-step verification to be disabled for your account. See Getting In Touch for details.
Text Message Method
This method requires the use of a device capable of receiving Text Messages (SMS). For most users this will be a mobile phone.

Setup - Mobile Number Entry
Enter your mobile number in the box and click/tap 'Send Code'.
If you are not in the UK you will have to enter your number in the international format (e.g. +447777666555).
You should receive a text message from 'Driving'. This will contain a 6 digit alpha-numeric code. Enter this code in the 'Verify Using Code Sent to Your Mobile' box and click/tap 'Verify & Continue'.
If you do not receive a code within 2 minutes you should click/tap 'Send Code' again. If you still do not receive a code then please check the mobile number you entered previously.

Setup - Verification Code Entry
Confirm
The last step will ask you to confirm that you wish to enable two-step authentication. Click/tap the 'Enable Two-step' button to complete the set up.
If you lose access to your mobile phone or phone number you will need to contact support and ask for two-step verification to be disabled for your account. See Getting In Touch for details.
Logging In with Two Step
When you have two-step authentication enabled you will have to complete a seconds step when logging in.
The first step however required the usual username and password entry:

Login - Desktop
Once you click/tap 'Log In' you will be taken to a second step. This will differ depending on the two-step method you have set up.
Authenticator App
If you have set up two-step with an authenticator app you will need to open the app on your device and enter the code shown for the account you are trying to access:

Once you have entered the code click/tap 'Verify & Login'. If the code is correct you will be logged in and redirected to your dashboard.
This code changes periodically; if you are not quite quick enough when entering the code you may experience an authentication failure. You should enter the newly generated code and try again.
Text Message Method
If you have set up two-step by text message you will need to have your mobile phone in your possession. This should be the same a phone with the same number/SIM card you registered when setting up two-step authentication.
You should automatically receive a text message from 'Driving'. This will contain a 6 digit alpha-numeric code. Enter this code in the box and click/tap 'Verify & Log In'.
If you do not receive a code within 2 minutes you should click/tap 'Send New Code' . If you still do not receive a code then please check that you are using the correct mobile phone & SIM card.

Login - Second Step - Text Message Code
Once you have entered the code click/tap 'Verify & Login'. If the code is correct you will be logged in and redirected to your dashboard.
This code expires 5 minutes after sending; if the message is delayed you may experience an authentication failure. You should click/tap 'Send New Code', enter the new code when you receive it and try again.
Turning Off
You will need to be logged in to do this.
If you lose access to your account due to losing your mobile device you will need to contact support and ask for two-step verification to be disabled for your account. See Getting In Touch for details.
If you wish to disable two-step authentication you can do so from the the 'General' tab within your account settings. For details of how to access your account settings see Changing My Account Settings.

Click/tap the 'Change' link.
In the set up popup choose the 'Do Not Use Two-step Authentication' option, then click/tap 'Continue'.
The last step will ask you to confirm that you wish to disable two-step authentication. Click/tap the 'Disable Two-step' button to disable.
