School Settings

This feature is only available to School Admin users.

To access this feature select the 'Settings' tab on the 'Diary' page. For help accessing this page see Managing Instructor Diaries.

You can change various settings, which control the behaviour of the diary and lesson bookings for all staff within your school.

  • Lesson Types - affects which lesson types are available to choose when booking lessons. See Custom Lesson Types for more details.
  • Week Starts On - which day the diary week view starts on. See Week Start Day for more details.
  • Save - click/tap this button to save your changes.

Custom Lesson Types

When booking a lesson your instructors or staff can select a lesson type from a simple drop-down menu within the booking popup. See Booking Lessons & Appointments for more details.

The system default values are good as a starting point, but if you require customisation of the types available to your school's staff you can chose the 'Use Custom' option and click/tap the 'Customise Lesson Types' link to show a popup allowing you to add, edit and change lesson types:

  1. Add Lesson Type - click to add a new lesson type. This will add an empty row to the list.
  2. Re-order Handle - click and drag to re-order this row. The order in which the types will appear in the drop-down when booking will be the same as the order in which they appear here .
  3. Name - a short descriptive name for the lesson type.
  4. The nature of the lesson type. Affects how a lesson is handled by the diary. See Lesson Type Natures for more details.
  5. Delete - removes the lesson type.
  6. Default - indicates the default type which will be selected when booking a lesson. The first item in the list will always be the default.
  7. Save - click this button to save your changes.

  1. Lesson Type Item - tap to show a menu with the option to delete a particular type.
  2. Re-order Handle - tap and drag to re-order this row. The order in which the types will appear in the drop-down when booking will be the same as the order in which they appear here .

Lesson Type Natures

When you create or edit lesson types you can choose the nature of the type. The nature changes how lessons with an associated type are handled by the diary and automated lesson reminders.

  • Normal Lesson - choose this option for a lesson type associated with normal instruction.
  • Mock Test - choose this option for a lesson type associated with mock or practise tests. Lessons of this type will be shown differently within the diary views and reminder emails/text messages will be worded differently. See Managing Instructor Diaries - Diary Entry Legends for more details on diary entry types and how they are shown.
  • Test - choose this option for a lesson type associated with tests. Lessons of this type will be shown differently within the diary views and reminder emails/text messages will be worded differently. See Managing Instructor Diaries - Diary Entry Legends for more details on diary entry types and how they are shown.
  • Freeform - choose this option if you wish for the person booking to be able to enter free-form text when selecting this lesson type option.

Week Start Day

This option controls which day of the week the diary week view starts on.

Changing this affects the diary view for instructors & staff as well as the lesson request view for pupils.
